Some recent work with smoke

Here’s a few images from a recent shoot with smoke. The images were shot with a Hasselblad camera and a Phase One IQ3 100MP digital back and the coloured lighting came from Elinchrom flash heads.

Flowers and Swirls

Following on from the Aqueous Roses series, we experimented with some different techniques in liquid photography to create a  series which resemble flowers opening up and the concentric rings of petals. It’s called flower and swirls!

Photoshoot of Calvin Klein Eternity Aqua

Here’s an ‘underwater’ image of Calvin Klein Eternity Aqua fragrance. The idea was to make it look like it was shot on the sea bed, so a small set was made with sand and shells and the bottle of perfume was photographed in place. The shafts of sunlight coming through the sea is a library image of mine I shot while scuba diving in Egypt.  It was retouched in and the shot polished and brought to life by Kasia at Studio Invisible.

The camera that started it all!

A few weeks ago I was looking online at vintage cameras and I came across the one that started my love for photography.

My dad had this camera in the 60’s and 70’s and I remember, as a small 6 year old, seeing it in the drawer. I was fascinated by the mechanics of it. It’s a Petri 7 Green-O-Matic, what a cool name!

I took photos with it as a small boy using Kodak Ektachrome film. A few years later, I took it on a school skiing trip and I dropped it and broke the lens off.

This one is sitting firmly on my shelf and I’m looking forward to running a roll of film through it!
